O objectivo desta página é permitir aos nossos amigos e patrocinadores o seguimento da nossa preparação e participação no Cape Epic.
Tudo começou quando vimos, pela primeira vez, as reportagens, na televisão e nas revistas, desta mítica prova de BTT por etapas. As impressionantes imagens mostradas pela televisão e os relatos emocionados dos participantes fizeram crescer a vontade de um dia participar no Cape Epic.
O Cape Epic realiza-se todos os anos na África do Sul entre a última semana de Março e a primeira de Abril, tem uma duração de 8 dias, aproximadamente 800 km de extensão e 16.000 m de acumulado. Todos os atletas participam em equipas duplas e o limite de equipas é de 600.
As equipas são seleccionadas com base numa lotaria realizada em Junho do ano anterior à realização da competição. No final da edição de 2009, a organização disponibilizou 100 entradas para o Cape Epic de 2010, no dia 29 de Março à meia-noite para os rápidos. Era esperado que estas inscrições fossem vendidas rapidamente, mas não em 100 segundos como aconteceu. À meia-noite, 300 equipas tentaram a sua sorte em simultâneo e a nossa conseguiu.
O Cape Epic é a prova por etapas mais mediática a nível mundial e é considerada a prova mais dura do mundo. Tem uma grande cobertura dos meios de comunicação a nível mundial incluindo Portugal. Os resumos das etapas são exibidos nas televisões nacionais e são efectuadas entrevistas aos participantes nas revistas mais importantes da modalidade. Sabemos que não podemos competir com as equipas profissionais e que chegar ao fim desta mítica e duríssima prova já é uma grande vitória, contudo vamos treinar arduamente durante os dias que ainda faltam e seremos acompanhados pelo Treinador Tiago Aragão, tudo para fazermos o nosso melhor.

The main propose of this page is give our friends and sponsors the possibility to follow us during our preparation and the race of Cape Epic 2010.
Everything started when we saw for the first time reports on the TV and newspaper from this mystic stage mountain bike competition. The great images on the TV and the comments from the riders make us dream one day ride on Cape Epic.
The Cape Epic takes place every year around the last week of March and the first week of April. The race is held over 8 days and includes a time-trial prologue. The route changes every year, and leads aspiring amateur and professional mountain bikers from around the world through approximately 800 kilometers of the unspoilt nature of the Western Cape and up approximately 16 000m of climbing over some of the most magnificent passes in South Africa.
All riders must enter as a two-rider team. Teams register in one of four different categories that include Men, Ladies, Mixed and Masters (both riders must be 40 years or older). The minimum age of participation is 18. The riders in a team must remain together at all times during the race and are expected to reach the finish line by 17h00 daily. At each stage, the winners of the day receive prizes and the leaders in the overall classification are awarded their leader jerseys.
The Absa Cape Epic is the largest full-service mountain bike stage race in the world. Race nutrition, water, and isotonic carbohydrate drinks are available at the feed zones to revive tired riders during the race. At night, all riders and race crew sleep in the tented race villages that are set up prior to arrival and taken down immediately after the start each morning by the race crew.
Teams are select in a lottery base in June on the year before. This year the organization makes available 100 team entries for the race in 2010 on 29 of March at mid night for the fasters. Organization expects to sell quickly the entries but not in 100 seconds. At mid night 300 teams try at the same time their luck and we were lucky.

We know that we can’t compete with the professional teams but finish this hard competition is already a great victory, meanwhile we will train hard with the help of a well know Portuguese trainer Tiago Aragão www.tiagoaragao.com.

This is an international competition so the cost will be high as you can check at our cost estimation in the following pages. We are open to any kind of sponsoring like equipment, money or services.
